Harris presents abortion plan to cabinet

Simon Harris will outline his plans for reform of the state’s abortion laws at a cabinet meeting tomorrow.
The minister for health has said that the government should follow the recommendations made by an Oireachtas committee last month in allowing abortion for all women up to 12 weeks. Mr Harris wants draft legislation published by February 14 to help meet the target of a referendum in May or June.
This legislation would only come into effect if the public voted to abolish the Eighth Amendment.
