1.6 crore abortions occur in India every year; nearly 60% of procedures unsafe

New Delhi: An alarming report has revealed that a total of 15.6 million (1.56 crore) abortions took place across India in 2015.

The report, which is country’s first large-scale study on abortions, also showed that one in three of all pregnancies were unintended and ended in an abortion. Read: Almost 60% of abortions found unsafe in India
