LEAFLETS MAKING FALSE links between abortion and breast cancer are on display in the main exhibition hall of the RDS today, where the three-day pastoral congress of the Catholic Church’s World Meeting of Families is taking place.

The leaflets, which falsely claim that a woman who ends her pregnancy by elective abortion is at increased risk of cancer, have been available to attendees at a stall run by the Ask Majella organisation since yesterday morning.

An anti-abortion crisis pregnancy agency is targeting women in Northern Ireland after last month’s referendum on the Eighth Amendment.

Ask Majella, which is run by Human Life International Ireland, was previously exposed giving misleading “advice”. Activists were secretly recorded by The Times claiming that abortion causes breast cancer and could result in women losing their reproductive organs and that sex could kill.

A Dublin hotel has cancelled an anti-abortion conference that claimed there was a link between terminations and the risk of contracting breast cancer.

The event at the Ashling Hotel on Saturday next week had been scheduled to coincide with what is likely to be the last March for Choice before next year’s abortion referendum.

Unauthorized pregnancy crisis centers in Dublin are misleading expectant women about the risks of sex, abortion and contraception.

An undercover investigation for The Times found that the Ask Majella and Gianna Care advisory services telling women that contraception was a health risk, there was a link between abortion and breast cancer and sometimes sex even lead women to “die”.
