We are excited to announce the launch of Sexing History, a new podcast that examines how the history of sexuality shapes present day cultures and politics.

Sexing History’s second episode is now live and explores the story of Dr. Kenneth Edelin, an African American physician, convicted of manslaughter by an all-white jury for performing a legal second trimester abortion. His trial transformed the abortion-rights and anti-abortion movements.

The similarities between Dr. Edelin’s case in the 1970s and contemporary abortion discourses are striking, and we share our podcast with you in hopes of illuminating how the histories of race and sexuality continue to shape present-day abortion politics.
