Judge insists Andrea Prudente was ‘used’ by pro-choice campaigners

A judge has rejected claims that Malta’s abortion laws are unconstitutional in a case filed by Andrea Prudente – an American woman whose request to terminate a non-viable pregnancy was turned down by Mater Dei Hospital doctors.
Prudente’s case had sparked a fierce national debate, not least since it appears to have inspired the government to propose changes to Malta’s abortion laws: changes which were ultimately significantly modified in the face of outrage by anti-abortion activists.
