In From the Clinics to the Capitol: How Opposing Abortion Became Insurrectionary, Carol Mason, a professor of gender and women’s studies at the University of Kentucky, draws a through line that connects both domestic and international anti-abortion activism to an ascendant network of white supremacist, Christian nationalist and authoritarian movements.

It’s a scary read, grounded in Mason’s three decades of attendance at rightwing events and perusal of scores of books, articles and pamphlets penned by anti-abortion conservatives. Her goal? To understand the ideology and motivating factors that have propelled the movement for the past half century.

Right-wing and far-right politicians launched an offensive against abortion on Monday at an 'ultra' summit in the Spanish Senate, despite the left-wing government's criticism of Spain's right-wing Partido Popular for compromising the neutrality of this state institution.

The Spanish Senate, where Spain’s Partido Popular (PP/EPP), the main opposition force to Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez's (PSOE/S&D) government, has a majority, hosted the VI Transatlantic Summit Against Abortion, an international forum bringing together 300 representatives of the far-right and right-wing camps from 45 countries.

Chilean anti-abortion group in legal fight to keep donors secret

A year-long investigation reveals how powerful anti-rights groups are influencing politics and protecting donors

A wealthy and well-connected anti-abortion group has gone to court to block the disclosure of its private donors following an investigation by openDemocracy and La Pública.

It comes after a year-long effort by the two news organisations that reveals how three powerful anti-rights nonprofits in Chile are using legal loopholes to protect the identity of funders while influencing politicians to limit reproductive and equal rights for women and LGBTIQ communities.
