The draft Supreme Court opinion in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization leaked this month gives America a glimpse into a dystopian future where the Constitution would offer no protection for women’s rights—including abortion rights—because they are not “deeply rooted in the country’s history and traditions.”

Imagine a world in which women are forced to bear children. They do not control their reproductive powers. Their bodies are at the command of others. Their bodies are mere instruments. Their lives are seized and put to the service of purposes not their own.

Activists in Argentina who are are fighting for access to legal, safe and free abortions up to the 14th week of pregnancy have gained a new international ally: Canadian writer Margaret Atwood, most popular for her TV-series-adapted novel The Handmaid's Tale.

In a recent letter to local newspaper UNO Santa Fe, Atwood shared her opinion on the comments made by Argentina’s Vice President and president of the Senate Gabriela Michetti regarding Atwood’s tweets, which urged the Senate to uphold women’s rights and support the legalization of abortion.

Polish party chief: Women should give birth even to deformed babies

The head of Poland’s ruling conservative Law and Justice (PiS) party has voiced opposition to a total ban on abortion, but said he is in favour of women giving birth even to deformed children, so such babies can be baptised.

PiS chief Jarosław Kaczyński was speaking in an interview with the PAP news agency published on Wednesday.

His comments came a week after the Polish parliament decided to reject a controversial citizens’ bill aiming to totally ban abortions that has triggered street protests.
