Sexual Reproductive Health: Role of Media

The critical role of journalists in bringing Sexual Reproductive Health matters to public attention, making government accountable and promoting good outcomes formed crux of discourse during a two day workshop for media executives on Sexual Reproductive Health Reporting organized by Marie Stopes International Organization Nigeria (MSION) on November 14 to 16 in Ibadan, the Oyo State Capital.

The workshop brought to the front burner the grey issues of unmet need, low use of contraceptives and its contribution to maternal mortality in Nigeria and other developing countries.

Research Shows Nigerian Youths Embrace Family Planning – NGO

Country Director, Marie Stopes International Organisation Nigeria (MSION), Effiom Nyong, says 19 per cent of Nigerian youths under 25 years accessed one modern Family Planning (FP) method or the other in 2017.

Effiom said this Abuja on Friday that five per cent of this youth were between 15 and 19 years.

Country Director, Marie Stopes International Organisation Nigeria (MSION), Effiom Nyong, says the through the introduction of Family Planning (FP), the organisation has been able to avert 10,000 unsafe abortions in Nigeria in the last 10 years.

The country director who made this known in Abuja, advocated for safe abortion, adding, unsafe abortion continued to claim thousands of lives every year.
