Tasmanian Speaker Sue Hickey calls on Government to make abortion easier, cheaper

Tasmanian Speaker Sue Hickey wants free abortions for low-income women, and greater availability of pregnancy termination drugs.

Last week, the Government revealed Melbourne-based surgical termination provider Hampton Park Women's Health Care would begin performing procedures from the end of this month, after nearly a year without an abortion clinic in the state.

Low-cost surgical abortion provider announced for Tasmania

A low-cost surgical termination provider will open in Hobart from the end of November, but there are concerns over the price of the procedure and accessibility for regional women.

The State Government has revealed the provider, named as Melbourne-based Hampton Park Women's Health Care, will begin taking referrals from Monday.
