A mysterious phone survey is making the rounds in Alberta, asking residents if minors should need parental consent to get an abortion -- but it's not clear who initiated the campaign. Many Albertans started receiving the call on Thursday night.

"Minors do not, however, require the consent of their parents to get an abortion in Alberta, nor is it required for parents to even be notified about their minor child's abortion," part of the pre-recorded message said.

Over her 14 years in Taber, she has expanded her practice to offer extra supports for patients looking for the kind of health care that can be hard to access in this rural, conservative region, where anti-abortion billboards are posted along the highway.

Autumn Reinhardt-Simpson is a chauffeur; a librarian, digging up resources and information; a covert operative, helping clients circumvent unsupportive partners; a therapist; and a friend.

Her actual job title is abortion doula.

That phrase might seem like an oxymoron — although she does sometimes support those who end up choosing to go through with a pregnancy — as doulas typically work with those going through childbirth.
